A NOD TO OUR LEGACY
Derived from the Italian “Gazzetta”, a term coined in Venice in the 16th century to describe cheap newspapers for the common people, the word “Gazette” became popular first in France, and then in England, in the 17th century, before being adopted by, or adapted into, a large number of languages.
Usually taking the form of leaflets delivered by hand in the street to passersby, Gazettes could deal with any subject, from futile to serious, and were like a window into a wider world, an entertaining journey to be taken from the safety of home.
With its deliciously old-fashioned charm, the term “Gazette” conjures up images of a certain golden Age of travelling in style, a glorious century stretching from the 19th century to the Belle Époque, which Maison Goyard significantly contributed to shaping with its unparalleled savoir-faire since 1853.
The digital heir to a storied tradition, the Goyard Gazette will be your privileged guide along your travels through the world of Goyard.
