Care and upkeep of your product in Goyardine canvas

The Goyardine canvas is a fabric that is at the very heart [SW1] of our heritage & skills. Used by Goyard since 1892, it is the main material in our permanent selection of products. Its tight weave, made of linen and cotton, coated with a light, natural resin, confers ideal characteristics, making our products light, soft, sturdy, water-resistant and long-lasting.

Despite its extraordinary qualities, over time, the canvas can be damaged by continual abrasion and one may observe a slight fading in the intensity of the ‘Chevron’ pattern. This can sometimes be seen in heavily-used areas of the product, such as corners, folds and bottoms.

This natural aging process is part of Maison Goyard’s mystique ever since the 19th century; it conjures up the charm possessed by trunks of yesteryear [SW2] on which the canvas was originally used. This natural, patina-like evolution is a sign of the authenticity of the natural materials and craftsmanship typical of Maison Goyard.
