The Supermonkey Marquage Motif

In Belle-Epoque Paris, exotic pets were all the rage.

Therefore, when Edmond Goyard launched his “Chic du Chien” range of pet accessories in the 1890s, he made sure to include creations intended not just for cats and dogs, but also for monkeys.

To celebrate this much beloved aspect of its heritage, Maison Goyard tapped into another of its fundamentals, the Art of Marquage, and imagined a customization motif inspired by the sketch of a monkey in a vintage Goyard catalogue from that era.

Called ‘Supermonkey’, it captures the happy, humorous and whimsical vibe that was at the heart of Goyard’s advertising at the turn of the 20th century, with memorable contributions from artists like Rabier and Falize.
