Maison Goyard is very pleased to announce it will present a one-week pop up store at Isetan Shinjuku’s The Stage from December 13-19th, 2017.
It all started with a box.
Back in Paris in 1792, Maison Martin -Maison Goyard’s direct predecessor- made its first claim to fame by specializing in box-making, trunk-making and packing. Founder, Pierre-François Martin quickly became a favourite of the French aristocracy, and was even granted the prestigious tittle of official purveyor of HRH the Duchess of Berry.
When François Goyard took the reins in 1853, the focus shifted from the delicate art of box-making to that of crafting state-of-the-art travel trunks, but the box essentially remained: what’s a trunk indeed, if a not a magical vessel evoking travel, a geometric treasure trove full of the memories of travels past, and the dreams of those yet to come?
As a tribute to the very form that shaped its skills and history, Maison Goyard chose an emblematic decor highlighting three perfect boxes as a metaphor for its distinctive Art of Travel. With Goyard, the journey begins right off with the trunk in and of itself. The Sky is inside the box, and the box proves to be much more than just the vehicle for, or an invitation to, travelling: it becomes the true essence of Travel.
The Goyard pop up store at Isetan Shinjuku will offer an exciting selection of items only available for the duration of The Stage, all coming in a special shade of Turquoise-blue Goyardine canvas exclusive to Isetan.
