The Bellechasse Biaude bag reinvents itself with a new medium size

Already available in a petite and feminine handbag version in PM (small) size, the Bellechasse Biaude reveals a new side as a smartly gender‑neutral MM (medium) sized tote.

The perfect ally at the office or out on the town, the surprisingly ample Bellechasse Biaude MM can easily hold all your daily essentials in total security thanks to its tightening strap and foldable Biaude* cape, a detail typical of Goyard’s craftsmanship that protects the contents of the bag from rain and prying eyes.

The new incarnation of a timeless Goyard classic, the Bellechasse Biaude MM highlights the ever‑enduring appeal of a staple bag that has constantly reinvented itself since it was first released in the 1970s.

Initially designed to carry wine bottles, the Bellechasse bag was only meant to be a one-off special order for an amateur of fine wine who lived on the elegant rue de Bellechasse in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It has since gone on to transcend its seminal function and become one of our Maison’s most‑beloved and emblematic creations.

The Bellechasse Biaude MM is available in a range of 5 colours: Black, Black & Tan, Green, Navy Blue and Grey.

*The Biaude was a waterproof tunic worn by the Compagnons de Rivière to protect them from the rain and cold, a much‑needed protection for these log drivers who specialized in transporting firewood from the forests of Morvan to Paris. François Goyard, who founded the Maison in 1853, took inspiration from his own log-driver ancestors to create his trunks. This heritage remains very much alive to this day, and informs Goyard’s contemporary creativity.
