Maison Goyard is pleased to invite you to discover “Aux Origines de Goyard, l’histoire des flotteurs de bois” (“Goyard Origins, the wood floaters’ story”).

This documentary film retraces the little known epic tale of the intrepid, ingenious river navigators from the forests of Morvan who kept Paris supplied with firewood for three centuries from the reign of Louis XIV through until the industrial revolution.

From a long line of “River Companions”, it was on the strength of their values that François Goyard founded the House that bears his name, in 1853.

From the composition of Goyardine canvas to the symbolic meaning of the Goyard chevron, and including the techniques still in use today by the artisans in our workshops, the influence of these men and their heritage remains as strong as ever.

“Goyard Origins” can be seen exclusively on Youtube channel.
